Description

The Alder is the working jacket, grown up. Sturdy brushed canvas on the outside, soft sherpa fleece through the body and collar, so it wears like a jacket and feels like the warm side of the bed.

Collar up, buttons open, hands in the pockets. It looks better in year three than year one, and it was already looking good.

DETAILS

  • Trucker silhouette with a spread sherpa collar
  • Full sherpa fleece lining through the body
  • Tonal button front
  • Two chest flap pockets, two lower welt pockets
  • Button cuffs that close against the wind

FABRIC AND CARE

  • Brushed cotton-feel canvas face with a plush fleece interior
  • Machine wash cold on gentle, hang to dry

FIT NOTE

True to size. The fleece fills the fit, so size up if you want space for a heavy hoodie underneath.

In stock, ready to ship. Delivered in 4 to 9 business days with tracking on every order. 50-day returns.

THE ANATOMY

How to judge a jacket.

Whatever you buy, wherever you buy it, look for three things.

  1. The fill

Insulation should sit in even channels with no thin spots. Crush a handful; it should spring back, not stay flat.

  2. The seams

Look along every seam for straight, tight stitching. Puckering is a shortcut you will feel in a season.

  3. The hardware

A zipper should run smooth from a standing start. Buttons should be sewn with a shank, not flat to the face.

CARE

How to care for it.

  1. Air it out

After wet days, hang it somewhere with moving air, never on direct heat.

  2. Spot clean

Most marks lift with a damp cloth and patience. Full washes age a jacket faster than winters do.

  3. Store dry

Off season, loose on a wide hanger, not compressed in a box.
